INANAM: The Kg. Kionsom Kaamatan Festival held at the Mini Hall of Kg. Kionsom, Inanam was celebrated in a lively atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of unity, togetherness, and harmony among the local community.
The program was further graced by the presence of Warisan Information Chief, Datuk Azis Jamman, who is also the Sepanggar Division Chief, attending to celebrate the traditions of the Kadazan-Dusun community and to appreciate Sabah’s cultural heritage that continues to be preserved to this day.
Also enlivening the event was PPM N.18 Inanam, Tuan Nickho Unui, together with community leaders and other invited guests.
The program, jointly organised by the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association Kionsom Branch, Badan Komuniti Wanita Kionsom Inanam, and KRT Kg. Kionsom-Kobuni, featured various interesting activities showcasing the uniqueness of Kaamatan customs, culture, and traditions in a harmonious and festive atmosphere.
According to Azis Jamman, Sabah’s cultural diversity is a major strength that must continue to be preserved.
“The beauty of Sabah’s culture lies in its diversity. The variety of races, ethnicities, and religions in Sabah is truly a strength that must be protected and defended. Happy Kaamatan to all friends and families celebrating the Kaamatan month in Sabah.”
Meanwhile, Inanam State Assemblywoman, YB Edna Majimbun, also attended to enliven the celebration. According to her, Kaamatan is not merely a festival, but also a symbol of unity and the identity of Sabahans.
“Thank you for the warm welcome from all the villagers, community leaders, and everyone who attended and enlivened this event. The Kaamatan Festival is not merely a celebration, but a symbol of unity, appreciation for cultural heritage, and the spirit of togetherness that must continue to be preserved from generation to generation.
Seeing the community gather in such a harmonious and joyful atmosphere truly inspires me to continue being with the people and listening directly to the voices of grassroots communities.”
She also expressed appreciation to all organisers for successfully organising a program that not only strengthened ties among the community but also reinforced local unity.
