Lahad Datu, February 4, 2026 – Complaints regarding two electric poles owned by Sabah Electricity that are nearly toppled in the PPRT area of Kampung Sabah Baru have been promptly addressed by the relevant authorities.
The complaint was submitted by a local resident, Cikgu Azman Abdul Mutalib, yesterday. Following the complaint, swift action was taken today when the responsible officer, Saudara Kamis Burhan, visited the scene in the morning to assess the actual condition and conduct an initial inspection on-site.
The survey found that the two electric poles in the area had suffered serious damage due to rot in the iron support sections buried in the sea soil and exposed to saltwater for an extended period.
The matter was immediately reported to Ir. Ts. Mahadir bin Mohd Tazrin, Manager of Sabah Electricity Southeast Zone, Lahad Datu. Following that, Sabah Electricity along with the appointed contractor attended the incident site for further action.
Sabah Electricity has informed that both electric poles will be replaced as soon as possible to ensure the safety and peace of the residents in the surrounding area.
This proactive measure reflects the commitment of the parties involved in ensuring that public safety aspects are always prioritized.
