WARISAN REJECTS KEADILAN NARRATIVE, ASSERTS MA63 PROGRESS BEGAN UNDER WARISAN & DEMANDS CLEAR TIMELINE FOR 40% SABAH PAYMENT

“Warisan governed for only 21 months. The question is, what is the status of the 17 agreed matters and the remaining four? The PMX administration is nearing its end, yet progress remains unclear,” he said.

Responding to claims that Warisan accepted RM53 million without الضغط for the 40% entitlement, Azis dismissed the allegation as baseless. He explained that at the time, Sabah and the Federal Government were part of the same administration, and negotiations were being conducted through a government-to-government (G2G) approach.

He also compared the situation to the action taken by PH Sabah, which withdrew its lawsuit against the Federal Government despite earlier commitments to proceed with legal action.

“The reason was the same — being part of the same government while G2G negotiations were ongoing. Therefore, it is unfair to question Warisan in that context,” he said.

Azis stressed that if the “classified gazette” had been known during Warisan’s administration, the progress of the claim would likely have been more advanced than it is today.

In the same statement, he proposed two key recommendations to the Federal Government. First, to set a clear timeline for when the 40% payment will begin.

“State it clearly — one, two, three, four, or five years from now. This is crucial so Sabah can plan its expenditures based on projected revenue,” he said.

Second, he proposed that discussions on the payment formula continue with flexibility, acknowledging that a lump sum payment would be difficult. However, he stressed that payment must still be made as it is Sabah’s rightful entitlement.

“The Federal Government takes 60% of the revenue. The remaining 40% belongs to Sabah and should not be denied,” he said.

Azis also acknowledged that the court ruling affirming Sabah’s rights only came after Warisan’s administration, and expressed appreciation to SLS for bringing the matter to court.

He further noted that GRS shares a similar stance in demanding the implementation of the 40% payment, indicating that the issue transcends political differences.

“This is no longer about Warisan or GRS. This is about the rights of the people of Sabah. All parties now share the same position — the Federal Government must implement the 40% payment,” he stressed.
