MEDIA STATEMENT: 13 MARCH 2026 - DISCLAIMER
Referring to the article titled “Warisan wants large scale deportations: Cites over 1 million illegals in Sabah” published by Daily Express on 13 March 2026.
I would like to thank the media, particularly Daily Express, for publishing my media statement dated 10 March 2026, which emphasizes the need for the Federal Government and the State Government to carry out large-scale enforcement operations to address the issue of Illegal Immigrants (PATI) in Sabah.
However, I would like to disclaim the title of the article which states that there are over 1 million illegal immigrants in Sabah, as I have never made such a statement.
In my previous media statement, I referred to the official statistics from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) which stated that as of January this year, there were 1,040,000 foreign nationals in the state of Sabah. Based on that figure, I raised the question regarding the actual number of Illegal Immigrants (PATI) in this state.
This disclaimer is made to avoid any confusion, especially in today's social media era where screenshots of headlines are often circulated without referring to the full content of a report.
In this regard, the Warisan Party and I are not responsible for any misinterpretation, confusion, or legal implications that may arise from the use of that headline by the media, whether through online portals or print publications.
